Child Protection and Safeguarding

Please contact us if you would like to receive the full list of policies

Child protection refers to the measures taken to prevent and respond to abuse, neglect, and harm to children.

Safeguarding children involves a broader range of measures aimed at protecting children from harm, including prevention of harm, early intervention.

At Crest Education, our Designated Safeguarding Lead will follow the guidance of AEGIS, every staff from the Student Welfare Team will be required to pass Enhanced DBS checks, as well as attending regular Child protection trainings to be updated with the current legislations and frameworks.

The UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) require that overseas students to appoint a legal guardian living in the UK (aged 25+) before they approve a Child/ General student visa. However, It is crucial for all parents to know how the way their children will be taken care of during their living and studying in the UK.

Our aim is to provide all the support we can apply to ensure students' best academic performance and the richest pastoral care on their way to success.

Guardian Responsibilities include:

• Provide 24/7 UK based emergency contact for the students and parents and education institutions;

• Ensure effective communication between the students, parents and education institutions;

• Select and inspect host families with extremely high standards in terms of health and safety;

• Act as the first contact for urgent medical treatment which may be required by the student;

• Regular contact with the parents (via email/social media/telephone);

• Discuss matters with the education providers relating to students’ welfare;

• Discuss students’ academic performance and school reports with the student and their parents;

• Supervise students’ regular attendance with the schools/colleges and homestay wellbeing;

• Advise education providers of any changes of responsibility related to the guardianship;

• Make arrangement for students’ transport and homestay families when it is out of school time;

• Assist the student with any cultural problems or difficulties in settling in the UK.

We would carry out the following steps to ensure that we are not only finding the best host family for your child, but stringent checks and screenings were carried out in order to comply with the AEGIS framework.
